I hope that when I die

I will leave a Legacy

as strong and powerful as those who have gone before me,

That people will gather in my memory

To plant trees and flowers

And raise their glasses

A living reminder of what once was

I hope my footprints on the Earth

embed in the seeds of wildflowers,

compost the leaves for the worms,

Pave a trail for those who will come after

May I plant the trees

of which the fruit I will never eat,

May I accept the responsibility

that has been gifted to me,

And wear it gracefully

We are the new ancestors

What will our Legacy be?
